Things are heating up. Well, the melting pot got hot anyway and my new mould was tried out and now I’ve assembled a few prototypes. Left to right, primed figures only: Republican French:Prince August SYW Prussian infantry with Modified Meisterzinn bicorne.PA SYW Russian infantry with one of my original ‘Tarleton’ helmet heads.General: PA SYW Dragoon officer w MM bicorne. Allies:Emigre: Meisterzinn infantry with my original … Continue reading So, you want a revolution? Well…..
Enough playing for now. May and Huzzah are fast approaching and my Revolutionary War armies are not growing nearly fast enough. Converting each hat in particular is taking too long as well as sometimes coming out second rate at best. So I’ve fixed up a couple of my War of 1812 heads to match slightly larger figures better. While I was at it, since I … Continue reading OK Back to Work!
Yesterday I took advantage of the annual ‘January Thaw ‘ to cast up enough figures to bring my two Revolutionary French units up to twelve figures each as well as a start on my first Emigre unit. Naturally, doing a test of the Emigre conversion using a PA Prussian grenadier and one of my own 1812 heads took precedence over finishing a unit! Continue reading Republican and Royalist
This is the first half of the “Regular” battalion in my demi-brigade. I was going to do at least a couple in white but decided not to. Instead they’re just going to be a little bit less ragged and more uniform in pose. These Prince August Prussian grenadiers are better match for Meisterzinn size-wise but I only have the one static pose and the uniforms … Continue reading Old Army
Work is finally resuming on my little 40mm French Revolutionary “army”. A little knife and file work then a little putty et voila! These Prince August Prussian Grenadiers have all volunteered to fight for la Republique. Continue reading Revolution is in the air.
One more French Revolution unit done! Still with the easy pickings. Four Royal Artillery crew in campaign uniform to man an existing gun. The crew are more Prince August Prussians with some heads I made years ago. The gun is a Sash and Sabre (ACW) painted, well, before the blog anyway. Continue reading The Odds are Evening.
I managed to steal an hour of hobby time today. (Bring on winter!) May and Huzzah! are coming and I only have four of twelve pledged French Revolution units painted. I should have started on one of the additional twelve figure infantry units I need but four artillery crew sounded easier. Got a ways to go yet but the weekend looks promising. Continue reading Lieutenant, Assemble your gun crew!
Now that my painting stuff has once again been transferred up to my gaming room, these guys have been finished and a first coat of varnish applied. Just need to do the basing thing. I’m not sure if it was my shaky hands or my fuzzy eyes that were the most trouble but as toy soldiers I’m happy with them. Saturday’s plan to join in … Continue reading Almost there
A little bit of progress at last. Revolutionary French skirmishers.Yeah I know, the grenadier pompom should be a horsehair plume or a carrot but …….might add the falling plumes yet if I get inspired. Early stages of painting. This will be unit 3 out of 6 for my French. Then maybe Highlanders will deserve reinforcements. Continue reading Recalled to the Table
